Starting in January, we will reorganize our staff team and our leadership boards. The reason is: I have a new assignment that will take me away from this church. Starting in January, I will no longer be the lead pastor of this church. I might stick around for a few months after January to help the leaders to get started in their roles. But, my latest date for leaving will be May 15 of next year.
The reason for all these changes is because as a church we have an opportunity we can’t ignore. The opportunity has to do with children’s ministry. We’ve been sharing our Kids’ Club curriculum on a website for the past year, and our impact just keeps growing. My best estimate is that we are serving about 1,200 children every week worldwide. Each of those children get to have high quality Bible teaching that is super engaging.
But I believe we can do even better. I believe if we develop our resources more, we could serve ten times as many children. So, that’s why I have to leave. I have to drop my duties at this church so I can concentrate on developing resources for churches around the world.
I believe this is a calling from God. We’ve learned in our series in Galatians how to walk with the Spirit and keep in step with the Spirit. We do that by following the Holy Spirit into love, joy, and peace. For me, that means taking on a new assignment to write for children.
For each of you, it will mean something different. Maybe the Holy Spirit will lead you into new roles and responsibilities. Or maybe the Holy Spirit will lead you to encourage other people and support them as they do God’s work. Or maybe he will lead you into a new season of rest and personal growth. If you follow the Holy Spirit into love, joy, and peace, you’ll always know what to do. And you’ll always have what you need.
The Elder’s Board will keep you posted as we finalize our plans. And if you want to chat, you can always reach out to us.
